Call to action
Please see the attached call to action from DSCA President, David Galloway.
We are asking you to contact GSBC councillors before they make a decision about the future of the chipper/shredder purchased with the assistance of a grant from NEMA.
The more community members that write or ring councillors, the better. Contact details are in David's letter.
Please ensure your communication is respectful.
We suggest you ask councillors to honour the agreement that GSBC made with DSCA and the grant body to regularly mulch green waste in Dolphin Sands.

Low flammability plants for revegetation
Thanks to Reef Murfet's phenomenal 100km run and our generous donors, we are able to offer properties impacted by the 2025 bushfire shrubs and ground covers.
We'll provide:
-
Up to 30 low flammability seedlings per property
-
Mesh guards
-
Stakes
-
Water crystals
Please get in touch by the end of April if you'd like to join in this offer.
Leftover funds will be used to provide seedlings for other properties on the peninsula.

Discounted fire-fighting equipment
Sincere thanks to Brierley Industrial for offering generous discounts on fire-fighting equipment to the Dolphin Sands community.
To receive the discount, advise staff at any Brierley branch (Cambridge, Derwent Park, or Newnham) of the cardfile 'Dolphin Sands Community Association'.

Successful grant application
We're pleased to announce that our Disaster Ready Fund grant application from NEMA, funded by the Commonwealth Government, was successful.
We applied for $125 000 to support Council to purchase an industrial-scale chipper/shredder. The aim is to reduce the risk of bushfire by supporting strategic green waste clearing without the need for burning.
The DSCA Exec are currently negotiating with Council to finalise plans for mulching at Dolphin Sands.
